Description

Expectations were high of home success at the British round of the 1988 500 World Championship motocross series, with Dave Thorpe and Kurt Nicoll holding first and third in the championship. However Thorpe (Honda) had seen his early season lead eroded by the hard charging Eric Geboers. Nicoll had fallen behind the battling Honda duo but was still picking up leaderboard places on his Kawasaki.
