From one Ford Mustang to a very different one, my first drive in the Mustang Mach-E! After travelling across country in my old school muscle car GT500, it's time to swap to the Mach-E e-AWD ER to see what the future of the brand looks like and whether it could be one for me.
The GT500 represents the ultimate of the Mustang brand to date, in terms of power and performance from a combustion engine, but things are changing and the brand is effectively being re-purposed for Ford's EVs going forwards that have begun with the Mach-E. While a GT variant is due to arrive in future, the 368hp e-AWD ER is the flagship for 2021 and certainly grabs my attention having recently entered into the EV world for the first time myself with my Taycan Turbo S.
Sharing numerous design elements with the traditional Mustangs, the Mach-E has a familiar looking 'grille', fastback style roof and taillight design. On the inside however it's all new with a large touchscreen for control of the various features including the driving modes like 'Unbridled' for Sport.
The intrigue to me though as we look towards the future and more electric cars is how this actually stacks up and whether it could be one for e to consider in future, particularly considering my growing Ford collection and the general shift in technology. What do you think, should I buy a Mustang Mach-E to give it a go?
